Biography

Sarah Buzby is a highly experienced real estate lawyer with more than 15 years of experience handling commercial real estate transactions and commercial lending transactions. Licensed in three states and the District of Columbia, Sarah gained her experience while working for several large global law firms in Texas, California, Virginia and the District of Columbia and she has also served as in-house counsel for one of the top real estate settlement companies in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.  Sarah’s experience encompasses all aspects of real estate acquisition and disposition as well as financing and lending for commercial real estate transactions.

Sarah earned her Juris Doctorate from The University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2006, where she was the Associate Editor of the Journal of International Law and Policy. She received her undergraduate degrees at Duke University in 2001, including a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language Studies as well as a Certificate in Latin American Studies.

Sarah is a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Lawyer Association, an organization providing pro bono legal work to the community. She is also a member of CREW Dallas, the local networking organization for Commercial Real Estate Women, and also maintains a membership in The Real Estate Council (TREC).  She lives in the Lakewood area of Dallas with her two daughters and a golden doodle, and serves as Daisy Troop leader in the Girl Scouts organization.

Representative Experience
  • Represented buyers and sellers in connection with the purchase/sale of real property, including the negotiation and documentation of purchase and sale agreements, assignment agreements, deeds and other conveyance documents.
  • Represented special loan servicer in connection with the restructuring of a multi-billion dollar loan consisting of a portfolio of properties located in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Jamaica.
  • Reviewed loan documentation of existing multifamily housing projects in preparation for securitization.
  • Closed hundreds of acquisitions for a large national developer in its development of both residential and commercial property.
  • Drafted and reviewed SNDAs, management agreements and franchise agreements.
  • Prepared, reviewed and negotiated escrow agreements, owner’s affidavits, trust certifications, powers of attorney, deeds, deeds of trust and other closing documents in connection to land purchases.
  • Prepared corporate documentation in connection with the formation of investment entities.
